In Zimbabwe, over 6 million people live on less than a dollar a day, and most of them are women. Our all-women collection teams are restoring ecosystems and earning dignified income through hands-on environmental work.
Our collectors are given safety training, PPE, transport and a hot lunch to support their daily efforts. All plastic gathered by these women is weighed at the end of the day and bought by Ele-Collection. This system drives a community-wide clean-up, while bringing an income to those who need it most.
Ele-Collection’s work extends beyond Victoria Falls into the surrounding Hwange National Park and rural regions through a growing network of community collection hubs. These hubs act as clean-up points, training bases and weighing stations - allowing plastic to be collected directly where it threatens wildlife, waterways and villages.
By creating decentralised rural hubs, we make it possible for more families to participate, earn income, and protect their own environments while building a clean, circular supply chain across the entire Victoria Falls–Hwange corridor.
We convert all seven types of plastic - dirty, mixed, or unsorted - into Plazrok: a building aggregate used in structural construction. Plastic waste is shredded, mixed with crushed glass, extruded and then granulated so it can be mixed with cement and water to form concrete. It’s a permanent solution that prevents plastic from ever re-entering the environment.
Ele-Collection has secured several off-take agreements with key players in the construction industry. Our Plazrok aggregate has buyers.
Traditional recycling requires clean plastic feedstock and it can only tackle one type of plastic at a time. Plazrok allows Ele-Collection to remove any kind of plastic from ecologically-sensitive areas and lock it away in a safe end destination.
Keeping your community clean and green, one pickup at a time for a healthier tomorrow for a clean earth & clear future.
